15 Festive Paleo Christmas Desserts

It’s like I can already smell the cookies in the oven. Christmas is hands down my favorite time of the year not only because of the atmosphere, but the FOOD. I don’t know what it is about Christmas flavors, but gingerbread, peppermint mocha, snickerdoodle and sugar cookie are my FAVORITE. Every year right before the big day, my mom and my aunt will usually come over and prepare all the holiday favorites. For my family this includes many Italian desserts, but also the classics such as peanut butter cookies with a hershey kiss on top, peppermint sugar cookies, and of course some gingerbread! So I decided to compile a list of some amazing looking goodies that are Paleo friendly and right up my alley (so they will hopefully be up yours too)!

15. Chewy Ginger Molasses Cookies from Gourmade In The Kitchen

Already from the pictures alone you can tell these bad boys are chewy and moist on the inside which is the best kind of cookie in my humble opinion. The. Best. Kind. Of. Cookie. ANYWAYS, on top of that, really anything ginger and molasses should just have my name written right on it because I will eat it. Check out this mouth-watering recipe by Gourmade In The Kitchen here.

14. Paleo Fruitcake from Cavegirl Cuisine

Whether you love it or you hate it, or maybe you just haven’t tried it yet, fruitcake is a staple to really any Christmas Eve/Day. 8. Paleo Peppermint Patties from Meaningful Eats

In my opinion, Junior Mints and Girl Scout Thin Mints are a year-round treat for all to enjoy. But when it comes to Christmas, every year without fail, we ALWAYS have a little dish of peppermint patties out to go along with the appetizers. It’s a nice palette cleanser or a main course if you’re like me. Either way, in most cases, peppermint patties are naturally gluten-free, but here is an amazing recipe you can make for yourself if you’re concerned about cross-contamination! Check out the full recipe by Meaningful Eats, on their site here.

7. Paleo Snickerdoodles from Gluten-Free Palate

Mmmmmm who can turn down a warm snickerdoodle? I remember during my Disney College Program, my roommate McKenzie was obsessed with snickerdoodles so we’d always make them for every occasion or even for a simple pick me up! But finding a paleo, let alone gluten-free, snickerdoodle dough in the store is impossible. So this is one of the best looking recipe I could find where the cookies look like cookies and not burnt crisps! For the full recipe by Gluten-Free Palate, check out their site here.

6. Thumbprint Cookies from Danielle Walker’s Against All Grain

I love when recipes come with video tutorials! Growing up, I loved eating thumbprint cookies and saw them as a treat whenever I got to snack on one. Although many are naturally gluten-free due to their use of almond flour, this recipe ensures that you won’t have to worry about any cross contamination. Check out the full recipe from Danielle’s site here.

Check out the full recipe from Gluten-Free Baking here.

Who doesn’t want to participate in that holiday tradition of cutting out cookies, popping them in the oven, and decorating them all nice before devouring them whole!? I know I sure don’t want to miss out! This sugar cookie recipe is a great way to enjoy all of those steps, but especially that last part of actually getting to consume them! Also in my opinion just from these pictures alone, it looks like they hold their shape much better than the regular Pillsbury sugar cookie roll and they’re not flat or crispy like some other paleo recipes I’ve seen! Check out Paleo Running Momma’s site here for the full recipe!

1. Easy Paleo Gingerbread Cookie from Paleo Gluten Free Eats

The thing that always tends to stink the most in my opinion about growing into a gluten allergy as I got older definitely has to be at my yearly family Christmas party when I realize I can’t enjoy my great aunts homemade gingerbread anymore. Every year, I aways get so disappointed when I can’t enjoy the tasty treat. But this recipe is a great way to get myself out of that holiday food slump and bring a gluten-free dish to add to the table! Check out this great Gingerbread recipe by Paleo Gluten Free Eats here!
